Circus in a Psychiatric Hospital

After first international circus workshop for patients of the Psychiatric Hospital Bohnice which took place in November 2011, Cirqueon will organize a second one in January 2014.

Circus in Prague Psychiatric Hospital
Dates: 20th – 23rd January 2014
Place: Prague Psychiatric Hospital Bohnice
Workshop leaders: Ledovec, o.p.s. (professionals in working with psychiatric patients who also tun their own circus project Cirkus Paciento in which they use circus as a therapy) and Adam Jarchovský and Václav Jelínek from Cirqueon
Participant profile: No special knowledge from field of psychiatry required, people doing all disciplines are welcome though we won´t be able to put on construction for aerialists
Basic programme:
We´ll have both theoretical and practical part of the week.
For the practical part we´ll divide the big group into four smaller ones (about 5 people in each one + one Czech speaking tutor).
In the mornings of Monday – Thursday we will have basic theory lessons on psychiatric topics, after that each group goes to one ward to doworkshops. We have lunch together in the hospital cafeteria, go to another ward, have feedback and than open workshop for patients from different wards. On Thursday afternoon there will be a show with patients and professional circus participants.
Friday will be a day for feedback, showing participants the space of Cirqueon.
For some of the evenings we plan to take the group to see circus shows or concerts.
